Here’s some more Cullen photos. These were from our trek down the other side of the beach. It wasn’t as long as the trip to the castle but there were some nice views.
Cullen Part 1
9 10 2008We took a trip up north to Cullen. It’s a nice little seaside town. We decided to go down one of the beach trails one day and these are the resulting pictures. First we were just heading to the giant’s steps but we decided to go for it and head to the castle which was 2 miles farther. We went through mud and sand, up hills and down hills. It was all worth it though. When we got to the final bay we could see the castle and we also saw some dolphins. When we finally started to head back it was getting dark and we decided to cut through some farmlands. We had to hop a few barbed wire fences but we made it back way faster than we would have if we had gone the way we came. We had to stop on the way back for some honeycomb ice cream since we were thirsty and didn’t have any water. It ended well and we had a really memorable day.

Holyrood Palace
17 08 2008A couple of weekends ago we took a trip to see the queen’s abode when she visits Scotland. It’s old and massive and pretty fun to tour. The inside was very nice and Graham and I attempted some dancing in the ballroom.
Founded as a monastery in 1128, the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh is The Queen’s official residence in Scotland. Situated at the end of the Royal Mile, the Palace of Holyroodhouse is closely associated with Scotland’s turbulent past, including Mary, Queen of Scots, who lived here between 1561 and 1567. Successive kings and queens have made the Palace of Holyroodhouse the premier royal residence in Scotland. Today, the Palace is the setting for State ceremonies and official entertaining.

Edinburgh Castle
12 08 2008The castle was great and I got lots of great photos! I kind of want to go again and spend some more time there. It was fun to see an actual castle.
When we left The Proclaimers (you know…the “I would walk 500 miles…” guys) were rehearsing for a concert right outside the castle.

Deep Sea World
12 08 2008A few weeks ago we took a short train trip to Fife to Deep Sea World. It was fun but I must say I was disappointed with their “Seal Sanctuary” which consisted of 2 seals.
